Usually when you get a “free” item with a purchase–lets be honest here–it’s crap. At the very best it’s something great in concept, but lackluster in holding up to actual use. Much to my surprise, a Benosh favorite, Backwoods, is offering a FREE Osprey Halo day pack with any in store purchase of $99 or more, online $90 on one item. If you read my article Osprey Hydraulics: Holy Crap This Is Cool! you might remember my direct plea to Osprey for something to tote my MacBook Pro around with. Well, Backwoods has indirectly answered this request for me.
Built almost entirely from recycled materials, the compact Osprey Halo day pack is ideal for short day hikes and trips to the park. The Halo–which is part of Osprey’s ReSource series–is made of 79 percent recycled content by weight, making it a terrific choice for eco-conscious consumers.
More significantly, the pack offers 900 cubic inches of storage, with a large main compartment for clothes and food and side mesh pockets for water or pop bottles. And should you need to add gear to the exterior of the bag, the Halo includes both ice axe loops and daisy chains. The Halo, which comes in redwood, panda, glacier, and rain-forest colors (all named after endangered species or places), weighs 1.25 pounds and carries a lifetime warranty.

The Backwoods logo on the pack just makes it that much cooler and will remind you of your great purchasing experience.
