For those that know me pretty well, you can safely say that I am a flip flop whore. I love them. So when OluKai sent us a pair of Kava’s to try out, I jumped at it. Especially since they were in my size. (A delineating factor here in the Benosh HQ.)

My usual flip flop suspects are the cheap, flimsy, “can get them dirty or messed up” flip flops that provided a timeframe of sole coverage during the hotter months in Oklahoma or wherever my travels take me. The Kavas, however, provide a sense of elegance. A rich premium camel leather coverage and a class that allows for a guilt free wearing at the office (casual Friday of course), on vacation or just around town.

The upper is a premium Italian waxed suede with synthetic pigskin lining and neoprene backer. The anatomical compression-molded EVA midsole is wrapped in premium full-grain camel leather. A full-grain leather wrapped outsole with non-marking rubber traction pods with kapa pounder tread detail meet the pavement. The Kavas feature a unique three-part stitching and turn upper hand burnished at the seams for added character, kava-root inspired laser-etched artwork, hand sewn toe post, embroidered and oil embossed logos.

So, yeah. A helluva lot of value for a flip flop. I say, if you’re an officiando as I am, GET THEM. Not later, but right now. Click on to their website and order them. It’s a pricey $160, but a value that will not only last, but be worth it in the end.
