Would like to thank the wonderful folks at KEEN for sending over a pair of their Alamosas to give a run through. I have to say that Josh has gotten a good number of the shoes that come to us, so I was excited when I got to try these out.
The Alamosas are lightweight and durable. They’ve got an aggressive tread on the soles that holds on tight, even on slick, wet rocks. The 4mm multi-directional lugs provide the necessary traction that keeps you on the trail and going. The low cut tops lend the Alamosa to a non-winter hiking shoe, and though the Alamosa is good for wet conditions, they’re not completely water proof. A nice roomy fit gives you the added comfort you desire while the midsole has a 2/3 shank that allows the shoe to bend at the start of the toe box. The sole is a bit stiffer than most trail running shoes, thus lending nice and firm foot support for the longer hikes of 10+ miles. The EVA heel insert and footbed gives a sweet cushion to each step.
The KEEN Alamosa has an upper made of a nubuck leather and mesh combination. The tongue of the Alamosa is attached to the shoe, helping keep rocks and dirt out. The thick toe bumper (A KEEN staple) is a great addition for the minor kicking or bumping of rocks as you go about on your hike. Built for speed, these lightweight trail shoes handle the terrain with ease and comfort!
Fashionable for the hiking realm or even a weekend out, the KEEN Alamosa has an MSRP is $100 and worthwhile investment for a great hiking shoe. Grab a pair today.
