Casual explorers for your urban adventures, the ECCO Portlands are not stone-cold hikers or trail runners disguised for business casual day at the office. They look good, fit comfortably, and are your best friend on walks.
I like the Portlands for every day walking. If my car broke down and I had a lot of ground to cover, these would be my walking shoes. Traveling Europe and wanting something more stylish than sneakers but not too formal? Ditto—the Portland is your shoe. Not meant for taking off the trail more than casually, they will still let you do a little soft trailing but aren’t for bouldering, for sure.
The Portland look great with jeans, and they’ve held up really well. In fact, in doing a little reading I saw that durability is one of the most loved traits owners praised. The oiled suede should hold up really well to wear. They’ve also got a good, roomy toe box, aren’t too heavy, and can take whatever you dish out in your urban jungle. Only drawback: they’re not water proof or resistant, oiled or not, so don’t explore wet urban environments.
We’ve usually found that ECCOs run a bit bigger than you expect, but these seem to be right on—but I’d still try them out before buying. Some other ECCOs we’ve tried have also seemed a little more expensive than competitors, and you were hoping that quality would make it a good purchase. With the Portlands at $120, I think you’re getting a premium shoe that’s really priced competitively and isn’t asking a higher price than shoes that may look as good but won’t perform as well. Now get out there and explore urbanely!
