ECCO sent us over another of their Biom series. This one is the Biom 1.1 Trail version. First impression was that I liked it. But more had to be observed before I would let a solid opinion form.

The Ecco Biom Trail 1.1 men’s hiking shoe balances natural running flexibility with the support you need for tough terrain. The black/navajo brown yak upper ensures a superb sock-like fit. A supple polyurethane midsole gives long-lasting cushioning and anatomical, full-length foot support. The biomechanical flexible midsole construction allows a natural running/walking motion and is perfect for ground adaptation. A rugged rubber outsole with specially designed traction pattern gives excellent grip on loose and muddy surfaces.

Like most trail shoes, it was a bit stiff out of the box, but with repeated wear, will break in nicely. For the average trail meanderer, I would say this is a solid shoe for your needs. I am not sold on a running aspect as the leather makes me want to pull back a bit in terms of terrain and what I’m will ing to go through. My reasoning is, they’re just really nice shoes, and I don’t want to beat them up.

That being said, I would suggest you check out a pair if you’re in the market. You can buy online or better find some retailers that carry and or can order them online from such as Dillards, Amazon, etc. Keep in mind that ECCO is a European company and be sure of your EURO Size when making an online purchase. I have found they tend to run a size large for me.
