Well, the name of this product is a mouthful, but the Bushnell® BackTrack HuntTrack GPS backs that up with a cost effective GPS system that will assist in getting you through your next camping, hiking, and/or tracking expedition. Though it is pushed as a “hunting” oriented product, any outdoors person will find this thing very useful. For purposes of this article, lets assume you’re a secret agent and this tool is helping you accomplish your mission. (Not that we’d know anything about that sort of stuff.. er… ah…)
The HuntTrack combines the ease of operation found in Bushnell’s popular BackTrack series bud adds some hunt-specific set of features. You can accurately plan your outings, knowing sunrise and sunset times, moonrise and moonset, and barometric pressure. With five standard and twenty additional saved locations, you can follow the easy-to-read arrow to any of them. A nice little assist is the Breadcrumbs tracking feature, which stores location points along your route. It logs up to 48 hours of trip data.
The HuntTrack has a weather-resistant construction that withstands harsh elements. So, upload your trips to Bushnell’s FREE application and overlay onto Google maps. The self-calibrating digital compass delivers an accurate heading while standing still. I found the backlit grayscale LCD screen big enough for easy viewing.
This puppy is powered by three AAA batteries (not included, but what else is new, right?). The size is 4-1/8’’H x 2-3/4’’W x 7/8’’D, so it’s big enough to use, but small enough to store nicely in a pocket or pack. Bushnell offers more information and ability to purchase on their website. List price is $164, but you can Google for best prices available. You may also grab one live and in person at Walmart, Cabela’s, or other outdoor retailors.
