Despite what you may think, being an editor for an outdoors magazine isn’t all getting dirty and having fun in the great outdoors testing products. We spend a lot of time interacting with technology, and being portable is very important to us. So with this review, we’re breaking out of the box to check out something many of us could use daily.
Portability is important, but so is ergonomics. That’s why, when I saw Aviiq’s line of portable laptop stands, I went out on a limb and asked for a tester. And amazingly, the great folks at Aviiq actually were up for finding out what we at Benosh thought of their Original Laptop Stand!
First off, this thing is a amazingly easy to both carry and use. It’s a space-aged composite origami puzzle that goes from folded flat to unfolded in seconds. It raises your laptop to a handy 12-degree angle to improve your ergonomics, comfort, and let air flow under your laptop, all without adding much weight or footprint to your bag.
The stand is a quarter of an inch thick when folded for travel and weighs only 5.5 oz thanks to its an aluminum/polypropylene composite construction. What this means is that when space and weight are at a premium, the Aviiq stands are smaller and lighter than the competition.
Whether or not you tote your laptop into the bush with you, if you’re a mobile office kind of person and find yourself setting up in Starbucks or some other less than optimal location, you should strongly consider Aviiq’s line of stands and accessories.
The Original stand is available for $60 from Aviiq’s website, which isn’t chump change. However, in the battle against carpel tunnel and other repetitive motion injury, it’s money well invested in the future of your hands and wrists. I was dealing with RMI when I received this and have noticed a significant difference during use! Check out the video below and others on their site to become thoroughly persuaded!
