Josh is usually the boot officianado here at Benosh. However, I lucked into testing out Ahnu’s Coburn Waterproof Boot. I have to say that the fit was exceptionally nice. As a good boot (IMHO) is, it was a bit stiff upon first few wears, but began to give just a tad bit for a comfortable walking/hiking experience.

I tried these bad boys on the wilds of Turkey Mountain here in Tulsa. I did so after a bit of rain, as to test the waterproof factor. Thankfully we got rain recently as we’ve been in somewhat of a drought here.

Ahnu’s Coburns boast stout protection from the elements, sturdy leather construction and good support for worry-free performance through the miles. They boast full-grain leather uppers that offer protection for many potential years of use. The synthetic mesh at the ankles offer flexibility and breathability without compromising support.

The highly breathable eVent® waterproof membranes keep the wetter elements out while allowing perspiration to dissipate and vent quickly. Padded, gusseted tongues keep out debris and unwanted moisture, while they relieve lace pressure as well.

Dual-density EVA midsoles provide light support and great shock-absorbing performance through the miles. Thermoplastic polyurethane shanks and arch supports allow forefoot flex and provide stable support on the trail. Lastly, the Ahnu Coburn Waterproof hiking boots have nonmarking rubber outsoles with aggressive multidirectional lugs to deliver good traction over mixed terrain.

The Ahnu Coburns come in at a $175 price point and can be purchased at local REIs or purchased directly from the Ahnu website. I would suggest you grab a pair if in the market for some good hiking boots. These will provide a longer term value for you.
